Where speed comes from
Two counters sit in the bottom left corner of every screen: the shoe icon with a number under it is Speed, the money icon below it is cash. Only the shoe number is affected by the wheel.
The wheel itself is the big wooden hoop on the street with a sign reading CAT WHEEL — Spin a little faster. Step inside and the game prints Keep running! at the top of the screen. Small +6 numbers pop over the wheel while the character runs, and a floating figure like +90 SPEED PER STEP hovers beside it.
The three cat wheel upgrades we saw
An UPGRADE button sits under the wheel with a cash price. We read three different prices at three different sizes of balance, and we could not confirm they are consecutive steps of one ladder — the footage never shows two of them on the same wheel in the same state:
| Balance when read | Upgrade price shown |
|---|---|
| $113 | $10K |
| $187M | $300M |
| $81.6M | $20B |
What the three readings do show is scale: the gap between the cheapest and the middle figure is 30,000 times. Whether they are one ladder or three different wheels is something this page cannot settle, so treat each number as a price you may see rather than a step you are guaranteed to be on.
The game also gates some objectives with cash rather than speed: standing near one printed You need $300M for the Comet Belt, the same figure as the middle upgrade reading. Both were on screen in the same session, and we could not confirm whether the belt and the wheel upgrade are the same object.
Reading the SPEED PER STEP number
Different wheels and different sessions printed different per-step values: +90, +210, +360, +490, +600 and +1.75K. The value floats beside whichever wheel the player is using, and the wheels are scattered along the street rather than being one single object.
We could not attribute each number to a specific wheel or upgrade level. The footage shows several wheels with several values at once, so what this page can say is that the figure is per wheel and that it rises as you progress — not which purchase produces which number.
Stacking trail multipliers on the wheel
Trails do not change your walk speed. Unlocking one prints Whisker trail unlocked: x2.5 treadmill speed!, which names the treadmill directly. So the effective order is:
- Get into the wheel and start generating Speed.
- Let the trail multiplier apply to that generation.
- Buy the next trail once the cash is trivial, not before.
The five trails and their prices are on the trails page. The short version: Yarn at $3K doubles you, and everything after it costs 30 to 50 times more for another half multiplier.
Zone recommended speed
Entering an area prints a banner with the zone name and a Recommended: figure next to a shoe icon. Sakura Park showed 10 Speed on one pass and 1.4K on another in the same session.
Two readings of the same zone at different moments is not a contradiction we can resolve: either the banner is dynamic (it scales with the player) or the two passes were at different stages of the session. Treat the banner as a live recommendation and read it every time you cross a zone line rather than memorising a number.
What we could not confirm
- Which upgrade produces which SPEED PER STEP value.
- Whether the zone recommendation is fixed per zone or scales with the player.
- What the
+1.75Kwheel is called, and how it is unlocked. - Whether speed decays when you leave the wheel.
Next: trail prices for the multiplier side, or the money guide for the cash these upgrades ask for.
